InstaSnapBook: The war against Snap Chat

Yall, Mark Zuckerberg has Zero Chill. If it was 96 degrees in the shade and you needed just a bit of chill to keep you from dying, and Mark was the only person around to help you, you’d die of a heat stroke because that man has nothing to give you.

Zukerberg is the villain in the comic books that never knows when to quit. He must be stopped but can’t no one stop him. He might as well be the damn Joker at this point cuz he’s out here killing the social media game and always smiling about it too.

By now you have to know what I’m talking about. I didn’t even know my Facebook app updated. I accidentally swiped my finger to the left and I swore I opened Snapchat. This man swears he’s the Beyonce of Social Media, just releasing new shit without a warning.

Who do you think you are Mark? What’s good Mark?

Barely into Tuesday, Facebook released Facebook Stories, basically Snapchat 2.0. The feature lets people post a string of videos and photos that disappear after 24 hours.

And this isnt the first time Facebook tried to snatch the Snap game.

Facebook has already brought “Stories” to the other apps it bought. Instagram has Instagram Stories. WhatsApp has something called Status. Messenger’s version is called Messenger Day.

The difference? This dude decided, this is not enough, I need more, and bam, he drops it onto Facebook which has 1.7 billion visitors.

This evil genius.

Is Mark’s move effective? We’ll have to keep watch, but shares of Snap declined more than 4% in Tuesday morning trading, while Facebook shares gained less than 1%. Snap’s share price is still higher than the $17 IPO price, but was down more than 6% from its close of $24.48 on its first day of trading, while the S&P 500 index SPX, +0.73% has declined about 1% in that time.

Hell, when Instagram brought out Stories last year, there was a decline in daily active user growth at Snap. As of its fourth quarter, ended Dec. 31, 2016, Facebook had 1.23 billion daily active users. Snap reported 158 million daily active users during the same time period (source: CNET 2017)

Facebook don’t give a damn if you know they copied the format either.

“Yes, this is something that was pioneered by Snapchat,” Connor Hayes, a product manager at Facebook, said during a press briefing in San Francisco on Monday. “We think they did a great job of uncovering that Stories as a format is the way that people really want to share photos and videos in social apps.”

Look here. Mark said why do you need 15 apps on your phone to drain your battery when you can come to Facebook? He’s about to make Facebook the Social Media hub. He’s taking over for the 99 and 2000. And he’s watching with a grin as he does it.

Mark tried to buy Snapchat for $3 billion in 2013, only to have Snapchat cofounder Evan Spiegel balk at the offer.

Spiegel said “nah, I’m not giving in like Instagram did.”

Mark went “Bet.”
